I doubt the connection of the conical shape of photoreceptors to the visibility of the rainbow, since it appears to be a almost purely dispersion phenomenon.
funfact: you can take pictures of rainbows and CCD's, well, their shape is different, isn't it?

c3le on tour
It took us 2 days and over 280 kilometers to get to the Chaos Communication Camp in 2011. Total worth it. There is a dockstar with gps mouse, umts-stick and over 10kg of lead-batteries in the roll trailer. No downtime during the trip. :-)

I did not want any source, I wanted the very source you used. But thanks anyways.

Maybe you should have a look at this:

When to Cite

There is often confusion among students as to when they should use a citation. And while different disciplines may have different rules regarding when citations should be used, there are a few general rules that you can follow:
When using a direct quote from a previously published work.
When paraphrasing an idea or theory found in a previously published work.
When referring to a previously published work (or the ideas expressed in it).
When using a previously published work to help formulate your own ideas.
When in doubt, cite it!
